Fugro completes ultra-deepwater geohazard survey for PETRONAS Carigali

Fugro has completed a geohazard site survey for PETRONAS Carigali in the Megah and Limbayong fields off the coast of Sabah, Malaysia. The project focused on identifying seabed and subsurface hazards in a challenging ultra-deepwater environment to support the safe development of offshore resources.

The survey utilized Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) technology, specifically the Echo Surveyor 8 AUV deployed from the Fugro Equator. The AUV collected high-resolution bathymetric, geophysical, and shallow subsurface data. This data is intended to inform engineering decisions and field development planning.

Operations were supported by Fugro’s Kuala Lumpur Remote Operations Centre (KLROC), which managed data quality control and processing. The offshore campaign took place between June and August 2026.
