Fužine bypass opens to divert heavy transit traffic

A new bypass in Fužine, located in the Gorski kotar region, has officially opened to relieve the town center of heavy transit and freight traffic. The infrastructure project, costing 3.1 million euros (excluding VAT), spans approximately one kilometer and connects the areas of Mostići and Donje Selo.

Funded by Hrvatske ceste, the project includes the construction of road structures, intersections, pedestrian paths, a bridge over the Ličanka river, and a drainage system. The new route is designed to divert heavy vehicles, particularly timber trucks, away from the narrow streets of the town center toward the Lič business zone, aiming to improve pedestrian safety and local quality of life.

The opening ceremony was attended by several officials, including Minister of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković, Primorsko-goranska County Prefect Ivica Lukanović, Fužine Mayor Ana Merle, and the President of the Board of Hrvatske ceste, Ivica Budimir.
