Fujifilm hikes camera prices up to €500 amid global DRAM shortage

Fujifilm announced price increases for at least five of its camera models effective 1 September. The X100 VI will rise €200 to €1,999, while the X‑E5, X‑T50 and X‑S20 each gain €100. The medium‑format GFX100 II sees the steepest hike, adding €500 to reach €8,499, putting it about €1,000 above rival Hasselblad’s X2D II.

The company attributes the changes to a worldwide DRAM shortage that is inflating production costs for camera sensors and image processors. The same memory crunch is affecting smartphones, laptops and other electronics, with RAM prices projected to climb another 40‑50 % this quarter. Industry peers such as Samsung, Qualcomm and TSMC have already raised prices for their products, and Fujifilm expects the crisis to cost it roughly ¥11 billion in 2026. While Fujifilm says it has secured most of the needed memory for the current year, analysts expect other camera makers to follow suit as the shortage persists.
