Fujifilm announces instax mini Evo 2 hybrid instant camera

Fujifilm has unveiled the instax mini Evo 2, the successor to its popular hybrid instant camera. The new model maintains the signature retro design and analog-inspired physical controls, such as lens and film effect dials and a print lever, while introducing significant digital upgrades.

Key enhancements include a 4.5-inch LCD touchscreen—the first in the instax series—which is approximately 1.5 times larger than the previous model. The camera features an upgraded 1/2.77-inch CMOS sensor, allowing for a maximum resolution of 13 megapixels when using a microSD card.

Two new creative features have been introduced: ‘instax Expanded View’, which displays a wider field of view on the screen than the actual print area to assist with composition, and ‘instax Immersive Movie’, which records a short, silent video clip of the four seconds leading up to a photo. The device remains a hybrid, allowing users to preview digital shots and select specific images for printing on instax mini film, or use the camera as a smartphone printer via a dedicated app.
