Fujihachi Saryo launches caffeine-reduced Ise tea bags

Fujihachi Saryo, a specialist in single-origin Ise tea, has launched ‘Ise Tea Caffeine-Cut Green Tea Tea Bags’ via its official online shop. The product utilizes supercritical carbon dioxide extraction to reduce caffeine content by approximately 70% compared to standard deep-steamed green tea.

Produced using tea leaves from a single farm in Iinami-cho, Matsusaka City, Mie Prefecture, the tea aims to serve consumers who wish to limit caffeine intake, such as pregnant or nursing women, or those drinking tea in the evening. The extraction process uses only water and carbon dioxide without chemical solvents, preserving the rich flavor and aroma of the deep-steamed tea. The tea bags are also designed to be plastic-free, using only plant-derived materials.
