Fujikina photography festival opens in New York City

The Fujikina photography festival has launched in New York City, transforming the Lower East Side into a “living gallery” to commemorate 200 years of photography. Organized by Fujifilm, the three-day event features works from prominent global photographers across eight venues, including the International Center of Photography (ICP) and local subway stations.

A central theme of this year’s festival is the defense of human creativity and tangible connection in response to the rise of generative artificial intelligence. The event includes workshops, forums, and the FotoFest portfolio review network.

Key exhibitions include a display by Magnum Photos featuring a long-unseen color archive of Paris, as well as works by Cristina De Middel. Other notable displays include Carol Guzy’s World Press Photo winning images regarding migrant family separations in the U.S. and Laia Abril’s visual investigation, ‘Sobre la violación y el fracaso institucional’.
