Fujikura Automotive to lay off 309 employees at Dej factory

Fujikura Automotive România is set to lay off 309 employees at its factory in Dej, following a previous reduction of over 200 workers last year. The company cited the ongoing crisis in the European automotive industry and difficulties faced by its primary client, Volkswagen, as key drivers for the decision.

The restructuring is part of a production capacity adjustment. According to documents sent to employees, the company anticipates a decrease in turnover for the fiscal year spanning April 2026 to March 2027, largely because its main project has reached the end of its life cycle. The layoffs, scheduled to begin in late October, include 45 indirect production staff and 16 positions within the TESA area.
