Nvidia expands physical AI ecosystem in Japan with industry partnerships

Nvidia announced a major expansion of its physical artificial‑intelligence platform in Japan, unveiling the new Cosmos 3 Edge world‑model that enables real‑time vision reasoning and robot policy execution on edge devices. The company highlighted collaborations with leading Japanese firms—including Fujitsu, Hitachi, Toyota, FANUC, YASKAWA, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Honda R&D, and SoftBank—forming an enlarged Nvidia Cosmos Coalition to develop robotics, smart‑city and manufacturing solutions.

The rollout includes a proposed AI data centre dubbed “Very Rubin” to host tens of thousands of Nvidia GPUs, and support for Japan’s national Noetra project aiming to build autonomous factory AI. Parallel efforts such as the Humanoid Hack Tokyo 2 event showcased practical applications, with teams demonstrating disaster‑response robots that use vision‑language‑action models like Nvidia’s Isaac GR00T.
