Fujitsu partners with major robotics firms to advance Physical AI
Fujitsu has announced a strategic collaboration with robotics leaders Fanuc, Yaskawa Electric, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries to accelerate the social implementation of ‘Physical AI’. Utilizing technology from NVIDIA, the partnership aims to build a coordinated control and task planning platform that seamlessly connects digital systems with physical robot control.
The initiative targets various sectors to address labor shortages caused by aging populations, including improving productivity in manufacturing, automating logistics, and implementing autonomous medical transport and reception services in hospitals. Fujitsu plans to invest approximately 3 trillion yen over the next decade into new business areas, including Physical AI, as part of its ‘Mid-term Management Vision 2035’.
In a related development regarding AI recognition in Japan, the ‘Zaikei BEST AI AWARD 2026’ was held in Shibuya, Tokyo. The event, organized by AI Sword and the Zaikei Research Institute, recognized companies driving AI implementation. LegalOn Technologies received the top prize, while Yamato Holdings was honored with a special award for its use of AI in optimizing delivery routes and employee training.
