Fujitsu releases OpenQARP open-source quantum software
Fujitsu has released Open Quantum Application Research Package (OpenQARP), an open-source software package designed to streamline the development and testing of quantum computing applications. Released under the Apache License 2.0, the software provides researchers and developers with over 70 reusable software building blocks and more than 20 pre-built quantum algorithms.
By allowing users to combine existing components rather than writing algorithms from scratch, the software significantly reduces programming effort. In one instance involving quantum chemistry research, a task that previously required 130 lines of Python code was reduced to fewer than 40 lines using OpenQARP.
The package is compatible with various execution environments, including Fujitsu’s own quantum simulators and NVIDIA’s CUDA-Q. It includes specialized algorithms, such as the Unitary pair Coupled Cluster Doubles algorithm, aimed at improving computational efficiency and reducing circuit depth.
