Fukuchiyama City hosts traditional festival and theatrical recruitment

Fukuchiyama City in Kyoto Prefecture is hosting various cultural activities. The annual Dokkoise Festival took place on the night of August 14 along Hirokoji Street, where citizens dressed in yukata performed the traditional Fukuchiyama dance accompanied by the sounds of drums and shakuhachi.

Additionally, the city is seeking performers and staff for a theatrical project involving the play ‘Carnival from the Forest’ by playwright Minoru Betsuyaku. This initiative aims to have citizens collaborate with professional directors to create a stage production.
