Fukuoka PARCO to close in February 2027
Fukuoka PARCO, a major shopping center in the Tenjin area of Fukuoka City, has announced it will close at the end of February 2027. The decision follows considerations regarding building aging and the progress of the Tenjin Big Bang redevelopment project, which aims to integrate the area with adjacent shopping districts to construct a large-scale complex.
To mark the 100-day countdown to its closure, the department store has appointed comedian Ryuji Akiyama as a special supporter. Events scheduled for November 21 include a photo session with Akiyama and a music festival titled “PARC ON FINAL” at the UNITEDLAB live house, featuring Akiyama and Perry Key.
A pop-up store named “Akiyama Hyakkaten,” featuring merchandise from Akiyama’s popular creative content, will operate from November 20 to November 29. Additionally, the store will feature original in-building announcements and advertising visuals featuring Akiyama to encourage customers to enjoy the space until its final days.
