Japan crime reports: various arrests for theft and sexual offenses
Multiple criminal cases have been reported across Japan involving theft and sexual misconduct.
In Sendai, a 43-year-old man was brought to trial for embezzling 22 million yen found in a bag dropped by a security company employee. The defendant, who had been told he had only a few months to live due to cancer recurrence, admitted to the charges. He reportedly spent approximately 18 million yen on medical expenses and overseas travel before his arrest.
In Fukuoka, a former kindergarten employee in his 20s was arrested and indicted for sexually abusing and filming multiple children. Police discovered videos and photos of the acts on his smartphone.
Other recent arrests include a 34-year-old man in Chiba for demanding explicit images from a minor via social media, and a 39-year-old former cram school instructor in Saitama for filming a junior high school student in a changing room. Additionally, a 62-year-old woman in Kochi was arrested for allegedly shoplifting 35 items worth approximately 24,000 yen from a supermarket, a charge she disputed by claiming she intended to pay.
