Fukuoka Prefecture Gin by agataJapan to feature Yame tea

Star Mark Co., Ltd. has announced the 23rd installment of its ‘Ken Gin Project,’ a series designed to showcase regional Japanese charms through craft gin. The new product, ‘Fukuoka Prefecture Gin by agataJapan,’ is being developed in collaboration with Takahashi Shoten, a long-standing brewery in Yame City, Fukuoka, established in 1717.

The gin utilizes Yame tea, a premium local specialty, as its key botanical. To create the spirit, Takahashi Shoten applied its traditional sake brewing and shochu distillation expertise, using a base spirit derived from ‘Sanaburi Shochu’ and finishing the product with aroma water extracted from tea.

A crowdfunding campaign for the product is scheduled to launch on CAMPFIRE starting October 1, 2026, ahead of general sales. The project received cooperation from JA Fukuoka Yame to ensure the authentic characteristics of the local tea are preserved in the final flavor profile.
