Fukuoka regions launch disaster prevention and earthquake training
Various disaster prevention initiatives are being organized in Fukuoka Prefecture to enhance community preparedness and earthquake education.
In Munakata City, the Munakata District Disaster Prevention Association will host the ‘Kodomo Yureta Caravan’ at Genkai Higashi Elementary School on November 26. This program, marking its first appearance in Fukuoka, uses earthquake experience mats to help children predict local risks and develop decision-making skills. The initiative follows a revision to Munakata City’s disaster prevention plan, which now anticipates maximum seismic intensity of 7 due to the Nishiyama fault zone.
Additionally, a ‘Disaster Drill 2.0’ for citizens is scheduled at Ion Mall Fukutsu. In Fukuoka City’s Minami Ward, a comprehensive disaster drill will take place at Higashihanabata Elementary School on October 25. This event, organized in collaboration with the Higashihanabata School District Council and various agencies including the Japan Red Cross and the Japan Self-Defense Forces, will offer hands-on training with fire extinguishers and AEDs.
