Fukushima reconstruction project features giant bow and arrow build

Cast members of the Nippon TV program ‘The! Tetsuwan! DASH!!’ are embarking on a new project in Fukushima to support regional reconstruction 15 years after the Great East Japan Earthquake. The initiative involves constructing a massive bow and arrow to symbolize prayers for health, prosperity, and the reunion of separated families.

The team aims to build a bow approximately six meters long—about three times the size of a standard bow—with the goal of shooting an arrow a distance of 101 meters to hit a target. The project is being prepared in conjunction with the ‘24 Hour Television’ broadcast, which focuses on themes of family and connection.

As part of the preparation, the cast visited areas heavily impacted by the tsunami, including Matsukawaura in Soma City, as well as Okuma and Namie, which remain partially designated as difficult-to-return zones. The members are working together to craft the equipment using local Fukushima timber to convey the hopes of the local residents to a national audience.
