Bosnia and Herzegovina traffic jams, border queues and road closures

Morning traffic in Bosnia and Herzegovina proceeded without extraordinary restrictions, but drivers were warned to exercise caution because of unstable weather and extensive road works. Long queues of passenger vehicles were reported at the Izačić, Gradina, Hum and Zupci border crossings, with waiting times up to 30‑40 minutes, while other crossings saw shorter delays.

Several highway sections remained closed or operated on a single lane due to ongoing construction: the Golubinja‑Nemila sub‑tunnel, a 6 km segment of the A‑1 Lašva‑Kakanj, and the Sarajevo‑West to Lepenica stretch, which were diverted to alternative routes such as the M‑17 road. Additional work on the Podromanija‑Sumbulovac road caused slower traffic over the Romanija pass.

A full road closure was imposed on the regional road Tuzla‑Dokanj‑Šibošnica from 08:00 to 20:00 for the Čelić 2026 mountain race. All motor vehicles were prohibited on the R‑459 segment between the local school in Šibošnica and the Stara Majevica hunting lodge, with traffic police and police officers directing drivers to alternate routes.
