Fulton J. Sheen beatification and relic exhibition announced

Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen is scheduled to be beatified on September 24 in St. Louis, Missouri. The ceremony will be led by Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, the Vatican prefect for the Dicastery for Evangelization, following the identification of a miracle attributed to Sheen’s intercession.

To commemorate the event, the Sacred Heart Basilica Cathedral in Newark, New Jersey, will host an exhibition of Sheen’s relics from September 19 to October 8. The display will feature a second-class relic, a chasuble used by the Archbishop during a visit to the cathedral in 1977, alongside photographs and devotional items. Visitors will have the opportunity to pray and seek his intercession.

Fulton J. Sheen was a prominent figure in American Catholicism, known for his influential radio and television programs between 1930 and 1968, including “Life is Worth Living.” His work reached millions of viewers through his engaging presentation style and religious teachings.
