Fulton Sheen and Georgia Martyrs beatifications scheduled in United States

The Roman Catholic Church will hold two high-profile beatifications on American soil. Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen is set to be declared “blessed” at a ceremony on Sept. 24 in the Dome at America’s Center in St. Louis, with Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle representing the Pope and Cardinal Timothy Dolan speaking at the event. Tickets, priced between $15 and $25, cover security and operational costs for the large‑scale gathering.

A month later, the Church will celebrate the sixth beatification on U.S. soil, honoring five Franciscan martyrs—Friar Pedro de Corpa and four companions—who were killed in 1597 while ministering to the Guale people along the Georgia coast. Bishop Stephen D. Parkes highlighted the martyrs’ legacy for marriage and family life, and pilgrims on a national Eucharistic pilgrimage have visited identified mission sites such as St. Catherines Island.

Both ceremonies underscore the Church’s effort to promote the saints’ teachings and engage faithful across the country.
