Fulvio Lucisano, legendary Italian film producer, dies at 98
Fulvio Lucisano, a prominent figure in Italian cinema, has passed away in Rome at the age of 98. A prolific producer, distributor, and exhibitor, Lucisano’s career spanned over seven decades, beginning with documentaries for Istituto Luce in the late 1940s.
In 1958, he founded Italian International Film (IIF), which became a cornerstone of the national film industry. His extensive filmography includes over 130 feature films and hundreds of distributed titles, ranging from horror and poliziotteschi to high-brow auteur cinema and popular comedies. He is widely credited with discovering and supporting major talents, including Massimo Troisi, whom he helped launch with ‘Ricomincio da tre’, and director Fausto Brizzi.
Lucisano also held significant leadership roles within the industry, serving as president of Anica from 1998 to 2001. His contributions were recognized with numerous honors, including five David di Donatello awards and a lifetime achievement award. His professional legacy continues through his daughters, Federica and Paola, who have taken over the management of the family’s cinematic enterprises.
