Fumiya Takahashi promotes ‘Blue Lock’ during Taiwan visit

Japanese actor Fumiya Takahashi and producer Shinshinsu Matsuhashi visited Taiwan to promote the live-action film adaptation of the popular manga ‘Blue Lock’. During a series of fan meetings, Takahashi shared behind-the-scenes details about his preparation for the role of Yoichi Isagi, noting that he underwent two years of football training and followed a strict diet of salmon, natto, brown rice, and miso soup to achieve the character's physique.

Takahashi revealed that he practiced football in secret at night with co-star Keita Tsuna to prepare for the role. He also discussed the challenges of adapting the manga, emphasizing the importance of finding the human charm of the characters rather than simply replicating the original work.

During his brief stay, Takahashi expressed his appreciation for Taiwanese culture and cuisine, mentioning his enjoyment of local foods such as xiaolongbao, pepper buns, and stinky tofu. He also interacted with fans by learning basic Chinese and Taiwanese phrases.
