Funchal announces new arts and rooftop festivals

The city of Funchal is hosting two major cultural initiatives aimed at promoting local arts and revitalizing urban spaces.

The Enseada: Funchal Arts Festival will take place from September 17 to 19. The second edition of the festival features 30 shows with over 200 artists and 20 associations. A primary focus is placed on local artists through commissioned works and new creative projects. The event includes the ‘Montras com Arte’ initiative, where 26 traditional shops will display contemporary art in their windows to engage the local community and visitors. Performances will be held at various locations, including Praça Amarela, where Tiago Nacarato is scheduled to perform on September 17.

Additionally, the Funchal City Council has introduced the Funchal Rooftop Festival. Running from September 25 to October 3, this new event is designed to activate the city's terraces and esplanades, offering panoramic views of the city and ocean alongside a specialized program of entertainment.
