Funchal beach discovery of man's body

The body of a man was discovered floating at Almirante Reis beach in the eastern area of Funchal. The alert was raised by local residents at approximately 06:45.

The National Maritime Authority reported that the local command of the Funchal Maritime Police, firefighters, and the Judiciary Police were deployed to the scene. Firefighters recovered the victim from the water, and death was confirmed by the health delegate. The body has been transported to the Medical-Legal and Forensic Office of Madeira following investigations by the Judiciary Police. The cause of death remains unknown.
