Funchal councilor demands oversight following urbanism allegations

In Funchal, Socialist Party (PS) councilor Rui Caetano has demanded clarifications from the municipal executive regarding allegations made by the Regional Section of the Order of Architects. Susana Neves, president of the Order, reported potential failures in urbanism and rehabilitation processes across Madeira, suggesting a lack of adequate oversight during the execution and completion of construction projects.

Caetano expressed concern over a perceived “sense of impunity” and questioned whether projects are being altered after work has commenced without proper scrutiny. He has called for a rigorous audit of municipal services and total transparency to ensure that urban development adheres to regulatory standards and respects the city's architectural heritage.
