Funchal to host World Animal and Veterinarian Day 2026

The Municipality of Funchal will host the World Animal and Veterinarian Day on October 3, 2026, at the Lido Gardens. The event, held from 10:00 to 13:00, aims to celebrate the importance of animals in society and highlight the role of veterinarians in animal and public health.

The program includes an animal blessing, an awareness session regarding the role of veterinarians in animal-assisted interventions led by Sílvia Vasconcelos, and a canine parade open to all dogs and owners. Various stands from animal welfare associations, such as AMAIS and Patinhas Felizes, along with industry companies and the Madeira Ornithology Association, will participate in the event.
