Slovakia: EU optimism rises amid rising costs and influencer scams

Recent reports highlight two distinct trends in Slovakia. A Spring Eurobarometer survey conducted by the European Parliament reveals that while Europeans view the European Union as a source of stability in an uncertain world, economic concerns—specifically rising costs of living—are increasing. Notably, Slovaks expressed higher levels of optimism regarding the future of the world and the EU compared to the European average.

Separately, a wave of fraudulent advertising is targeting Slovakian social media users. Influencers and presenters, including Jasmina Alagič and singer Dominika Mirgová, have had their names and images misappropriated in fake Facebook advertisements. These scams use manipulated photos to promote weight-loss products, prompting the victims to issue public warnings to their followers to avoid these hoaxes.
