Fundació la Caixa allocates €32.4 million to 80 research projects
Fundació la Caixa has announced the distribution of €32.4 million to support 80 scientific research and innovation projects across Spain and Portugal. These initiatives, selected through competitive calls for 2026, are led by universities, hospitals, and research centers.
The funding is divided into two main areas. The Health Research Call has selected 32 projects from 800 proposals, focusing on basic research in neurosciences, oncology, cardiovascular diseases, and infectious diseases. These projects, which can receive up to €1 million each, aim to understand the biological and genetic mechanisms of various illnesses. Notable research areas include the use of intelligent systems for Parkinson’s treatment and spinal cord repair using focused ultrasound.
The Health Innovation Call, held in alliance with Criteria Bio Ventures, has selected 30 initiatives from 449 candidates to drive technological advancement and personalized rehabilitation in the health sector.
