Fundación Gente Brava announces 2026 cultural encounter season

Fundación Gente Brava has announced its 2026 Season of Encounters, a series of three free events designed to explore contemporary Dominican and Caribbean culture. The program includes diverse formats ranging from literary discussions to music and technology workshops.

The season begins on September 19 with “Verso y prosa: quién escribe la isla hoy” at Cuesta Libros, featuring authors Minerva del Risco, Miguel Yarull, and Arlene Sabaris. On November 1, the event “No te vas sin que te ponga algo” will take place at Swing Records, featuring illustrator and DJ Rafael de los Santos (Poteleche) in a session combining podcast segments with live vinyl curation.

The series will conclude with a hybrid event titled “Herramientas de IA para archivo cultural,” held in partnership with the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC). This session will feature a practical workshop led by Laura Castellanos and Miyuki Kasahara on utilizing artificial intelligence for cultural documentation and archiving.
