Fundación Jiménez Díaz establishes training center for adaptive radiotherapy
The Fundación Jiménez Díaz University Hospital is establishing itself as a training center for adaptive radiotherapy following the successful implementation of the EVO linear accelerator. The Radiotherapy Oncology Service has spent several months developing new clinical procedures and optimizing workflows through the use of this technology.
Dr. Javier Luna, head of the Radiotherapy Oncology Service, stated that the implementation of online adaptive radiotherapy with EVO has allowed the team to gain valuable experience in clinical process optimization, workflow validation, and coordination between medical physicists, radiation oncologists, and technicians.
Adaptive radiotherapy requires a real-time ecosystem where imaging, planning, and quality controls are integrated into every session to adapt irradiation to the patient's specific anatomical conditions. The hospital now aims to share its expertise and learnings with other professional teams.
