Fundación Jiménez Díaz hosts first Hematology Week Conference
The Fundación Jiménez Díaz University Hospital, in collaboration with BeOne Medicines, held the first “Hematology Week Conference” to highlight advancements in the field. The event aimed to educate patients, families, students, and medical professionals on the breadth of hematology, covering everything from blood and bone marrow function to innovative treatments and research.
Specialists emphasized that while a complete blood count (hemogram) serves as an initial tool to suggest a diagnosis, precise treatment requires detailed studies of cellular, genetic, and molecular characteristics. Integrated diagnostic committees for specific pathologies, such as lymphoma or myeloma, play a critical role in synthesizing this information to guide clinical decisions. The field also encompasses the study of coagulation disorders, the balance between bleeding and thrombosis, and genetic alterations related to various blood diseases.
