Fundación Mendoza residents protest nightly electricity rationing
Residents of the Fundación Mendoza sector in Barcelona, Anzoátegui, have criticized the nightly electricity rationing implemented by the National Electric Corporation (Corpoelec). Neighbors report that power outages frequently occur between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM, with service often not returning until the early hours of the following morning.
Community members, many of whom are elderly, described the situation as “cruel” and “inhumane,” noting that the lack of electricity during nighttime hours significantly impacts their quality of life and ability to rest. Residents expressed frustration over the heat and the health risks posed by the outages, citing instances where family members required medical attention due to the conditions caused by the blackouts.
