Fundação EDP announces seven finalists for Prémio Novos Artistas

Fundação EDP has announced the seven finalists for the 16th edition of the Prémio Novos Artistas. Selected from 550 applicants, the finalists are Daniela Ângelo, Eduardo Antonio, Inês Mendes Leal, Maria Paz Aires, Sara Graça, Sofia Mascate, and Teresa Murta.

The winners will be showcased in a collective exhibition at the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT) in Lisbon during the first quarter of 2027. The award includes a 20,000 euro prize for the winner, with each finalist receiving 6,000 euros to support the production of their work. An honorable mention of 5,000 euros may also be awarded.

A jury composed of MAAT director João Pinharanda, art historian Catarina Rosendo, and curator Eva Mendes selected the artists. The selection focused on emerging national artists demonstrating original languages across various media, including painting, sculpture, photography, installation, sound, and moving images.
