Fundraising for Brazilian brothers reaches R$ 2 million
A fundraising campaign for two brothers from Acre, Brazil, has surpassed R$ 2.06 million in donations. The campaign aims to fund specialized medical treatment and participation in a clinical study in the United States for 12-year-old Pedro and 7-year-old Tiago Fleming.
The brothers have been diagnosed with Limb-Girdle Muscular Dystrophy type 2C (LGMD2C), an ultra-rare, progressive genetic condition that affects muscle strength in the shoulders, arms, hips, and legs. The family has set a final goal of R$ 5.22 million to secure the medical protocol abroad, which they hope will slow the disease's progression and improve the children's quality of life.
