Fundraising for child with leukemia exceeds R$ 70,000

An online fundraising campaign for 4-year-old Esther Sophia Vasconcelos Pereira, who is battling leukemia, has exceeded its initial goal of R$ 50,000, surpassing R$ 70,000 in donations. Due to the high volume of contributions, the organizers have increased the financial target to better cover the child's ongoing medical expenses.

Esther resides in Barcarena and undergoes treatment in Belém. Her father, Paulo Robson Vasconcelos Pereira, reported that the diagnosis followed six months of abdominal pain and skin discoloration.

The Barcarena municipal government has intervened to provide support, including guaranteed transportation via the 'Tratamento Fora de Domicílio' (TFD) service and food vouchers. Additionally, the family will receive psychosocial monitoring and guidance through local social assistance programs, including home visits from the CRAS São Francisco center.
