Funds Co., Ltd. survey reveals investor behavior amid rising interest rates
Funds Co., Ltd. conducted a survey of 3,272 users to understand individual investor behavior following interest rate hikes by the Bank of Japan. The results indicate that 70.4% of respondents view the rising interest rate environment positively.
Regarding specific actions, 62.8% of participants have either taken action or are considering changes to their portfolios. The most common move was transferring funds to time deposits (17.1%), followed by increasing holdings in stocks and investment trusts (12.0%) and purchasing bonds or government securities (11.3%).
Despite the rise in rates, 78.6% of respondents believe that even a 5% interest rate on ordinary savings would be insufficient, suggesting that a return to simple bank deposits remains limited. Looking ahead, 72.8% of respondents intend to start new investments within the next year, with a majority (60.4%) seeking middle-risk, middle-return profiles with annual yields of 3% or higher.
