Funeral home in Łódź Voivodeship releases wrong remains

A private funeral home in the Łódź Voivodeship committed a major error by releasing the wrong remains for burial. The facility was storing remains related to two separate legal matters.

One set of remains belonged to a man involved in an investigation by the District Prosecutor's Office in Rawa Mazowiecka regarding a death caused by negligence. The other set of remains consisted of human remains, likely a soldier from World War I or II, which were being overseen by the District Prosecutor's Office in Skierniewice.

According to Paweł Jasiak of the District Prosecutor's Office in Łódź, employees mistakenly released the remains from the Rawa Mazowiecka investigation instead of the soldier's remains intended for burial. Consequently, the Rawa Mazowiecka prosecutor's office has launched an investigation into the desecration of a corpse to determine the circumstances of the error.
