Funeral of Michela Di Tullio held after fatal Bitonto‑Giovinazzo crash

The funeral of 71‑year‑old Michela Di Tullio took place on 28 July at the San Domenico parish in Bitonto. She died in a crash on the night of 25‑26 July on provincial road 88, which links the Adriatic town of Giovinazzo with Bitonto.

The accident left three of Di Tullio’s grandchildren seriously injured. The five‑month‑old grandson is in the neuro‑surgery unit of the Policlinico di Bari with skull fractures, while his mother, who was with him, suffered facial fractures. A four‑year‑old girl has a broken clavicle, liver contusion and bilateral lung contusions, and a seven‑year‑old girl has rib fractures. Two teenage boys from Bitonto, occupants of an Audi A2 that collided with a Lancia Delta, were also hospitalized. Mayor Michele Sollecito visited the hospitals to convey the community’s condolences. Police investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
