Funke Akindele announces new film ‘The Four’ for December 2026 release

Nollywood filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele has announced her upcoming drama, ‘The Four: No One Fights Alone’, which is scheduled for a global cinema release on December 11, 2026. Produced under the Funke Akindele Network (FAAN) and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, the film follows the intertwined journeys of four women—including Akindele, Waje, Bisola Aiyeola, and Chioma Akpotha—as they fight for the future of a young man.

The narrative explores themes of friendship, motherhood, resilience, and unity, set between the Odu community and urban environments. The production aims to showcase Nigerian cultural identity through its use of music, language, tradition, and fashion. Recent promotional efforts have highlighted the use of Adire textiles in sculptural, contemporary looks for the cast.

Akindele, who has a history of significant box-office success with films like ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ and ‘Behind the Scenes’, stated that the project is designed to reflect the lived experiences and relationships of her audience. The film features an extensive ensemble cast including Richard Mofe-Damijo, Timini Egbuson, and Lateef Adedimeji.
