Funke Akindele announces new Nollywood film ‘The Four’

Nollywood filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele is preparing for the release of her latest feature film, ‘The Four: No One Fights Alone’, scheduled to hit cinemas on December 11, 2026. The drama, which Akindele wrote, directed, and produced, explores themes of friendship, motherhood, sacrifice, and resilience through the story of a woman named Esosa and three other women fighting for a young man’s future.

The film features a prominent Nigerian cast, including Richard Mofe-Damijo, Bisola Aiyeola, Chioma Akpotha, and Timini Egbuson, alongside musical contributions from artists such as Waje and Shoday. The project aims to reflect Nigerian cultural identity through music, fashion, and tradition.

Akindele’s career, spanning nearly three decades, has evolved from her early role in the 1998 sitcom ‘I Need to Know’ to becoming a dominant commercial force in the industry. Her success is attributed to building a creative ecosystem through the Funke Akindele Network (FAAN) and developing long-standing character franchises like ‘Jenifa’.
