Funko posts Q2 profit as collectibles sales jump
Funko Inc. reported a turnaround in its second‑quarter results, posting a net profit of $15.4 million, or $0.27 per diluted share, compared with a $40.5 million loss a year earlier. Net sales rose 7 % to $207.7 million, driven by a 9 % increase in Core Collectibles and a 15 % rise in other lines such as Mondo. Gross margin more than doubled to 56.6 % from 32.1 %, helped by a $25.4 million pre‑tax benefit tied to expected tariff refunds. SG&A expenses fell to $79.7 million, down from $82.3 million, improving overall profitability.
The company updated its full‑year outlook, expecting flat to modestly higher sales (up to 3 %) and continued growth in core collectibles while trimming under‑performing SKUs. At an earnings call held during San Diego Comic‑Con, CEO Josh Simon highlighted the momentum from theatrical properties, anime, gaming and sports, and the role of rapid‑response “Hyper Strike” products in driving the quarter’s success.
