Italy reports multiple violent incidents in prisons and streets

Several violent incidents and emergency interventions have been reported across various Italian locations.

In Agrigento, prison officers successfully prevented a young inmate from committing suicide by hanging. One officer performed life-saving resuscitation maneuvers while another assisted until medical personnel arrived. The union SAPPE noted the officer was managing four sections and over 180 inmates alone during the crisis.

In Salerno, prison staff intervened in a violent altercation between two female inmates in the women's ward, preventing the conflict from escalating into a larger riot.

In Naples, a large-scale street brawl involving approximately thirty people occurred in the Fuorigrotta district. The fight, reportedly rooted in a long-standing family grudge stemming from a past romantic relationship, left a 45-year-old man seriously injured and led to seven individuals being reported to authorities.

Additionally, a separate incident in Terzigno involved a 14-year-old student who brought a kitchen knife to school following a fight with a classmate. The local mayor mediated a reconciliation between the two students.
