Furano, Hokkaido promotes autumn foliage and seasonal tourism

Furano, Hokkaido, is highlighting its seasonal appeal beyond the winter ski season, focusing on autumn foliage and summer landscapes.

Furano Ski Resort has announced that its ropeway will operate during the autumn season from October 3 to October 18, 2026. The mountain summit, located at 900 meters, offers views of the Tokachi mountain range and the Furano Basin, with the potential for sea of clouds sightings. The facility “Furano no Mori ASOBOU” will also be open, providing various activities for families and groups amidst the changing colors of the forest.

Complementing the regional tourism, the Nozo Hotel in the Kitano Mine area serves as a base for exploring the Furano and Biei regions. The hotel offers accommodations designed with natural tones and provides access to local amenities such as the Sugi Spa. Visitors can experience the local agricultural culture through seasonal activities, including visiting flower fields in summer and attending the Furano Wine and Grape Festival in September, which features local wines and grape-treading experiences.
