Furientis raises $25 million to develop high-volume interceptors

Los Angeles-based defense technology company Furientis has raised $25 million in seed funding, a round led by Benchmark. The company is focused on developing lower-cost defensive interceptors designed for high-volume production.

Furientis has also secured its first government contract, structured as a prototyping Other Transaction Agreement with the Department of War. This contract will support the development of a 100-mile-range interceptor vehicle intended for homeland defense. The company aims to design systems that can be manufactured at a rate of 1,000 interceptors annually per factory, with a target final assembly time of less than one hour per unit.

To achieve these goals, Furientis utilizes commercial off-the-shelf components where appropriate and manufactures critical components, such as seekers and solid rocket motors, internally. The new funding will be used to expand flight-test operations, increase hiring across engineering and manufacturing, and invest in vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities.
