Furman defeats Virginia Tech 3-2 in men's soccer

Furman defeated Virginia Tech 3-2 in a men’s soccer matchup at Stone Stadium. Virginia Tech took an early lead in the second minute when Yanis Belatrache converted a penalty kick.

Furman responded late in the first half when Wilfer Bustamante scored a penalty kick in the 39th minute to tie the game at 1-1. Bustamante then scored twice in quick succession during the second half, finding the net in the 60th and 65th minutes to give the Paladins a 3-1 advantage.

Virginia Tech attempted a late comeback, with Dagur Traustason scoring in the 78th minute off an assist from Chase Vazquez to bring the score to 3-2. Despite late pressure and generating opportunities, the Hokies were unable to equalize before the final whistle.
