Furniture industry showcases new trends and materials at upcoming trade fairs

The furniture and interior design industry is preparing for major upcoming exhibitions, including the GfMTrend kitchen and furniture fair in Mainz and the SICAM trade fair in Pordenone.

At the GfMTrend event scheduled for November 2026, the focus will be on new private labels. This includes the premiere of ‘Wohnstories’, a brand for customizable upholstered furniture developed with partner Zehdenick, and a redesigned kitchen brand, ‘apéro’. Additionally, the fair will feature concepts to help furniture retailers transition into specialized sleep competency centers, supported by the mattress brand ‘DreamArt’.

At the SICAM 2026 exhibition, specialty paper manufacturer Felix Schoeller will present new concepts for decorative papers and furniture surfaces. Under the theme ‘Connext for Future Surfaces’, the company aims to integrate color, structure, and material development earlier in the value chain. Highlights include the Trend Report 2028+, decorative papers utilizing alternative fiber concepts such as Silphie plant fibers and recycled fibers, and a collection developed in collaboration with designer Alessandro Carrara.
