Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury fight faces venue dispute

Negotiations for the heavyweight bout between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have reached a stalemate regarding the fight's location. While the match is tentatively scheduled for November 2026, promoters are divided between hosting the event in the United Kingdom or the United States.

Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has expressed a commitment to staging the fight on British soil and has threatened to withdraw from the contest if a venue is announced without his consent. Conversely, Madison Square Garden in New York has emerged as a strong contender. This shift is reportedly driven by Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, who favors a U.S. venue to maximize global viewership and accommodate prime-time broadcasting requirements that Wembley Stadium's curfew cannot support.

Frank Warren, promoter for Tyson Fury, remains confident the fight will proceed despite the disagreement, noting that Fury has already signed an agreement. The delay follows a period of uncertainty for Joshua, who recently secured a second-round knockout victory against Kristian Prenga after being dropped twice in the opening round. Prenga later attributed his performance drop in the second round to illness and lack of conditioning during his fight week.
