Fusengbuwa Ruling House removes three leaders over fraud allegations

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, has removed three of its top leaders following allegations of financial inducement, document manipulation, and lack of due process. The ousted officials include Chairman Abdulateef Owoyemi, Vice-Chairman Prof. Fassy Yusuf, and Deputy Chairman Adeodokun Ajidagba.

The decision followed a 25-page report from a nine-member fact-finding committee established in June to investigate irregularities in the selection process for the next Awujale and Paramount Ruler of Ijebuland. The committee, chaired by Olusegun Olusoga, found a “manifest breakdown of unity, communication, and cohesion” among the leaders.

According to the committee's secretary, Adeyemo Oduneye, the leaders failed to properly classify candidates according to the statutory requirements of the Awujale Declaration. The report characterized their actions as a “deliberate dereliction of sacred duty” and an attempt to usurp the powers of the ruling house. The family subsequently voted for the immediate removal of the three leaders to preserve the integrity of the Awujale institution.
