Futsal: District champions to regain direct national promotion

Senior district futsal champions will regain direct promotion to national championships starting in the 2026/27 season. This regulatory change restores a competitive principle long advocated by various football associations and stakeholders in the sport.

Daniel Pina, president of the Association of Football of Portalegre, noted that the decision represents an institutional victory and a recognition of the efforts made by those who campaigned for the review of the previous rules, which were viewed as unfair to district-level futsal.
