Future Frequencies Festival 2026 launches in Tokyo under Daito Manabe

The Future Frequencies Festival (FFF) opened on July 11‑12, 2026 at MoN Takanawa’s Box1000 and Box300 in Tokyo’s High‑End Gate City. Co‑organized by media artist Daito Manabe and Beatink, the two‑day event featured a line‑up that included Joy Orbison, Knower, Kassa Overall, long‑time collaborator Nosaj Thing, and other Japanese and international creators.

FFF builds on Manabe’s earlier Flying Tokyo gatherings, expanding them with Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry support into a multi‑layered programme of live audio‑visual performances, talks, workshops, exhibitions and collaborative pieces. The festival aims to bridge Japanese and overseas creators, drawing inspiration from Sónar, MUTEK and other cross‑disciplinary festivals, and to showcase how emerging technologies reshape music and art production. Manabe also highlighted recent AI‑assisted music work, noting that new tools allow rapid prototyping of visual systems for live shows.
