Future Health initiative convenes global leaders at UNGA

During the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, the Future Health initiative convened global health leaders to discuss transforming health systems from reactive treatment to models focused on prediction, prevention, and early intervention.

Chaired by Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, the UAE Minister of Health and Prevention, the dialogue included representatives from various nations, including the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, Nigeria, and Indonesia. The participants identified four critical requirements for this systemic shift: the use of population data for early risk identification, the creation of financing and incentives for prevention, the expansion of delivery capacity, and the development of trusted, inclusive systems.

Key strategies discussed include national life-course screening, the integration of demographic and genomic data, and the use of digital records to support community health workers. A whitepaper presented by Abu Dhabi highlighted the economic potential of this shift, estimating the global value of healthy life years at $16.4 trillion.
